Careers at RSM

Our Philosophy

  • RSM makes an emphasis on early development of logic and problem solving skills.
  • Our teaching philosophy and curriculum are based on proven and famous Russian methodology of math education, which emphasize understanding vs. memorization.
  • We successfully practice an Early Introduction of Algebra and Geometry. This concept, first introduced by the Russian researcher Vygotsky, is just beginning to gain recognition in US.
  • The goal of RSM is to build deep understanding of math, rather than providing a quick fix for problems and gaps left by the'New Math' . Our program continues Classic traditions of logical and sequential whole math education.
  • We promote group learning. In a small group a child is challenged not only by the teacher, but also by his or her peers. This creates a unique atmosphere of brainstorming in the class.

More About RSM

Long before the “Math Wars” over the style of math education in US public schools, RSM became one of the largest specialized math programs for K – 12 in US. Over a decade ago, when our own children were students at high school, their problems with math prompted us to start our own after school math program.

The famous and tried Russian Teaching Methodology became the cornerstone of our new program. One of the most important features of this methodology, first suggested by Russian developmental psychologist Lev Vygotsky and later developed by V. Davydov, is the early introduction of algebra and geometry. The proven result of this time-tested approach is true understanding of every math concept by the students, versus plain memorization of rules.

For over 10 years we are proud to be a part of success for a whole generation of students, who received highest SAT scores, entered some of the best colleges, and who can now easily apply their math knowledge to other challenging subjects far beyond the college.
